LOOPED (2010) I have been collecting vintage movie posters since my High School of Art and Design years. There is a certain amount of controlled chaos that I imagine went into designing most of them. Studio bosses and industry distributors had much to say in terms of marketing their film product. It was very exciting for me to recreate the look of a 1965 movie poster for Looped. Television legend Valerie Harper portrays Tallulah Bankhead during a period of time when she’d just finished what was to be her last movie, the dreadful horror film, Die, Die, My Darling. Based on an actual event, the play is an uproarious tribute to an actress whose tabloid exploits almost superseded her theatrical triumphs. I used Walter McBride’s phenomenal photograph of Ms. Harper as the centerpiece of my montage that also features a ghosted image of the actual Tallulah Bankhead. Over the years, I have been a great fan of both Valerie Harper and Tallulah Bankhead (Lifeboat-Hitchcock-Amazing!) so getting to work on this project made me absolutely esctactic.
