THE BUS 10/20
@ 59E59. See previous high marks on staff and bathrooms. The audience in this tiny space was a mixture of age ranges and types.
RELATIVELY SPEAKING 10/19
@ Brooks Atkinson Theatre. A gorgeous old house in desperate need of renovation. The bathrooms are a total, disgusting nightmare. The urinals are so close together, everyone was forced to piss sideways. The carpets on the stairways, in particular, are threadbare and dirty. The staff was aggressive but effective. The audience was on the mature side and ready for a good time.
BE CAREFUL! THE SHARKS WILL EAT YOU! 10/17
@ Stage Left Studio. It’s a really tiny venue with a minute bathroom (as expected) but a helpful staff who actually got me a more comfortable seat (folding chair) without my asking. The audience was on the sixtysomething side and staunch theatergoers.
THE MOUNTAINTOP 10/16
@ The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. Beautiful house with cheerful staff and decent-sized bathroom facilities. The audience was an interesting mix of ages and types but all clearly excited to be there.
LOVE LETTER TO NEW YORK 10/15
@ 3LD. Staff a bit vacuous but pleasant. There’s an idiotic set-up for the box office where you can buy refreshments at the same time you pick up your tickets (from the same staff member, mind you!) Needless to say, the system holds the line up a ridiculous amount of time. The audience was on the twentysomething side peppered with older patrons like myself. The bathroom was huge, clean and bright, bright white.
THE SUBMISSION 10/13
@ Lucille Lortel Theatre. A much brighter staff on this go-round. See previous entry for other comments. The audience was a very savvy-looking NYC crowd ranging in ages from twentysomethings to seventysomethings.
INTRINGULIS 10/12
@ Intar has a very festive staff who seem ready to party at a moment’s notice. A very hip younger crowd and artsy types made up the audience. There were two single use and very clean bathrooms. The elevator to the fourth floor is, as posted in the car, “cranky.”
ANY GIVEN MONDAY 10/11
@ 59E59. See previous entries for great notices. The audience for this play skewed a bit on the thirtysomething side.
LIDLESS 10/10
@ Walker Space has a welcoming staff and a theatre space that’s a prime example of a strong downtown vibe. The theatre seats would be much safer if they were fastened to the floor. The bathroom would be perfect for a murder scene in a SAW movie.
SEED 10/9
matinee @ The Classical Theatre of Harlem. An interesting, vintage theatre space made warm and inviting by a wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. The audience ran the gamut in age with many well-wishers in attendance to lend support for the final performance. The bathroom was very clean and was also in “vintage” condition.
